I have read too many bad fanfiction

Warning! Rant ahead:

I feel sad for the generation of fanfiction. I'm sorry but I haven't actually read an actual decent fanfiction in my entire life. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm not targeting anyone, I'm not trying to be offensive but its the truth. Because here are things that bug me:

1) Mainly the OC-90% of the time the OC is a Mary Sue. Pretty much sums that up.

2) Too Many OCs-Not all stories have this, but I've seen stories where there is not just one pain in the ass OC, not two, but maybe more than five. I mean its bad enough that they are 90% Mary Sues, but to put a cherry on top of the fanfiction, I'm not sure who is your story about? And they have their own story too? And this story is 80 chapters? No thanks.

3) Badly named OCs-Similar to number one. The name of a character is so important to the story. A name can represent who a person is. But If I'm reading Naruto fan fiction which takes place in JAPAN and isn't modern day, and your character is Rena, Raven, or Angel, your f***ing annoying! Same thing with western animation stories. If you making a Winx Club fanfiction which takes place in an alternate dimension and there ain't any asians in that story, your character shouldn't be named Kikyo, or Mei or Sakura.

4) WTF Sex scenes-An example character A meets character B at a bar and then they make love. I'm sorry, but that is too fast paced. I'd like to see the relationship blossom before I see graphic sex. How did this person meet this other person? Why do they love each other?
(Update Jan 15: Yes this happens in real life, but its just too fast paced in fiction)

5) "Whats Rape?"-A lot of people don't understand the concept of rape. Its not love making. Your not supposed to enjoy it. You don't love your rapist. The definition is: the crime, committed by a man(sometimes woman as well), of forcing another person to have sexual intercourse with him without their consent and against their will. Yes, sex maybe pleasurable at times but if you are being raped, in the end it doesn't feel good. You feel shame. You don't feel lucky. Learn this term, teeniebobers!

6) "Their cute together, thats why I paired them"-I don't like yaoi or yuri, so I can't understand why people love it. However I do find offensive when people do things like NaruSasu. We obviously know that Naruto likes females. We obviously know that Sasuke is asexual. So please for the love of god, if you wanna make a yaoi/yuri story, at least use your own characters as the gay lovers and not canon. And cuteness isn't a reason to pair two people. If you know me, I have a page of crack/crossover pairings that may or may not make sense to people, but at least I write decent stories about why I think this would make a nice pairing.

7) Constantly changing/unlikable POV-I don't care for the main OC's POV that much. If its CanonxCanon then its a different story described in the next point. I usually don't like the OC's POV because some authors make their OCs really bitchy and unlikable. I don't want to give an example because I don't want to be targeting anyone.

8) What happened to CanonxCanon? If I'm reading a Maka and Soul story I want Maka to be the brainy girl and I want Soul to be the cool dude like they are in the actual canon. I don't want Maka to be this foul mouth and I don't want Soul to be an asshole.

9) F*** Love at first sight-I get that some people believe in it, but many people can't pull this off. A good example of love at first sight is Romeo and Juliet, when Romeo met Juliet, Romeo wanted to find ways to get closer to Juliet. A bad example is Character A meets Character B and then they kiss after they meet each other.

10) F*** Forbidden Love-Again same reason as above. This doesn't always work with most authors today. I'm using Romeo and Juliet as another example. Romeo couldn't love Juliet because both the families hated each other and were at war with one another which lead to both Romeo and Juliet's suicide. A bad example is character A's family doesn't like character B because he rides a motorcycle.

11) Don't F*** with the fandom-Yes mature stories are fun o read or make however I find it a little disturbing when I'm reading a Winx Club story where all the girls are overly sexualized and they are multiple sex events. I mean its one thing if its romantic and one pairing but to make the winx sexualized animals is really gross.

12) Mpreg-Learn how to make a baby, for the love of god.

13) When genderbending do it correctly-I don't care for genderbends. They make me feel icky. Lets say Sakura from Naruto has been transformed into a boy for the sake of the story. I'd rather find out how to turn her back rather than a pairing with her and Ino or her and Sasuke.

14) World swapping is a no no-This doesn't affect you if your not doing a crossover however it may apply to an anime set in a specific period like Naruto. People like to make modern day Naruto stories. Thats okay. Some prefer to stick to the canon universe. Thats okay too. But what I don't want to see is people traveling to other universes unless its Madoka Magica or Doctor Who which focuses on that kind of stuff.

15) Your character is boring!-Some people make a one shot series of their OC or a canon with another canon. Its the same pairing over and over again. It gets old. The stories never change either, so thats boring. You know my ThatGuyWithTheGlasses sex stories? Yes its long, yes its the same pairing, but I have other pairings as well besides Karen and Linkara or Karen and Critic. The sex changes too, sometimes Karen controls other time Critic controls, etc. I have other fandoms as well. I used to have this OC that I'd use in every story no matter what fandom it was and people got sick and tired of her and told me to make more OCs. So I did. Thus more pairings and more adventures.

16) That doesn't go there-This only bothers me with song fics. The ones I read are based off emo songs and the story has nothing to do with emos. Then they place lyrics in the story when it doesn't belong. Do you remember my story Missing? That was a song fic that was supposed to be sad and the lyrics fit with the story.

17) Your translating wrong-This only applies to song fics. Most people don't always understand lyrics, so I will advise you to look up a meaning of a song before writing a song fic. Because Anything For You isn't a happy song.

18) We speak American-Most stories think it will be cute to add another language in a story. I read mainly anime based stories so obviously some is in Japanese. But its really distracting because most of the dialogue is in english. For example:

He gave her the rose and she blushed and said, "Arigato, Hanzo-Kun" Hanzou brushed his hand against Usagi's cheek and said, "Dō itashimashite" he said. Usagi said, "Lets leave before it gets dark."

Sometimes the phrases are also spelt wrong or i don't understand them either, which is really annoying.

Update: 12/9/16: Its even funnier if the series isn't at all Japanese!

19) Text talk is for texting, script mode is for movies and plays and formal writing is for fanfiction.

20) Please give spoiler tags-These are for people who want to create a fanfiction website. Lets say Maria wants to read a Madoka Magica fanfiction but she only watched three episodes and is about to read a story that takes place after the ending. Can you give us a spoiler tag that way you don't ruin it for Maria?

Update Jan 2015 21) "Dirty Talk"-This is only for M rated fan fiction, and what I mean is learn how sex and dirty talk works. I don't mind "Does it feel good?" or "Like that, baby?" But what I do mind is "I'm gonna get pregnant!" Learn how pregnancy works, becuase you can't always get pregnant while having sex. Also if you can't think of dirty talk, go read an erotic novel for ideas.

So please, for the sake of the internet, write better stories. If you like fanfiction, great, but this is my opinion, therefore I have the right to say my opinion.

Update: I am aware that there are good pieces out there where I haven't found. I'll take your word for it. I write fanfiction myself, however I try not to use any of those things above that I have listed. I know what rape is. I try not to make Mary Sues. My writing gets better and I sure hope others do as well.
