Top 11 Mahou Shoujo Cosplayers 2014

Clow Magica Power! Metamorphose! Okay, time for part II of the cosplay countdown. Sorry things are running really slowly with this being only the second of I believe seven countdowns. Balancing school, on top of a reviewing career is tough. Time to countdown who had the best magical girl cosplays.

11) niicakes's Puffy Skirtz

There is not a lot of Tokyo Mew Mew cosplay out in the world of deviantart, though Niicakes as well as some other reoccurring deviants on this countdown have provided some really good ones. This picture reminds me of the twenty sixth episode, where the mews have to fight on Tokyo Tower against the aliens and the giant moth...with Berry included. I like the setting and I like the models who portrayed Berry and Ichigo.

10)  MimiEmotion's Cure Blossom

This picture was so close to being in the Top 11 last year but got cut. I never liked Precure, but this picture makes the Precure series look more dramatic and intense that I almost want to take back my comment. Instead of cutesy, Cure Blossom looks like she is ready to kick butt, and you know I'm a sucker for reinterpretation pics.

9) missycakes's Blue Lorakeet

The pose and the face really suit Mint's sarcastic personality. Its like she is taunting Ichigo with a smart remark. I also love the setting. Instead of a cafe, its more of a candy store, giving Cafe Mew Mew a new setting.

8) LadyMella's Open My Heart

Unlike the Cure Blossom, Cure Marine is more cutesy in this picture. I don't know, something about it screamed that it needed to be in this top ten. The model suits her well, though the picture is simple, but still amazing.

7)  :dev8-bitwonderland:'s The End is Near

Is it me, or does picture look like a promo for a Madoka live action film? All the models suit their respected charcters and the dark edginess makes the picture pop compared to other Madoka group pictures in the competition.

6) rainowl  I summon 

This is a cool cosplay picture. Cosplaying as Sakura is hard to make a good picture unless you look young. Which the model does. But what really sells this picture to me is the special effects.

5) devKurai-hisaki:'s Protector

I can say a lot of this picture, but I don't want to give a lot about the series. What I will say is, this picture tells a story. A dark one, but thats why I love this picture. Both the models represent Madoka and Homura and I love that this is more of an action shot rather than a glamour one.

4) Shirokii Release

This is a picture hard to attempt. If there were no speacil effects around, this would be your everyday cosplay picture. However this picture is stunning. I'm also curious if the wand was handcrafted or made of plastic, like mine at home. A really nice job.

3) yoru0704 Mami Tomoe

Oh my god. This picture is amazing. The thing about Mami's attack that is so unique compared to other magical girls is Mami can create a kalediscope of muskets. And the photographer showed it off here and does an amazing job of it. I'm not sure if that is carpet underneath, but I love on how it adds to the techinique. I also like the pose, which suits well in this kind of picture.

2) :devThemisvalvernis:'s One with Nature

I was scared for this competition. In the Top 100, a majority of the pictures were Madoka Magica, with some others. I was happy to get three decent Winx cosplayers but sadly the other two were cut due to only having eleven slots at the final round. What sold me here is the model looks like she is having fun and dosen't have model face. The background is really stunning, which makes the model pop. And the pose suits Flora well.

1) firebirdxxx's Devil Hunter Yohoko

I have not watched this series, though I have seen reviews of it. Most of the reviewers agreed that Devil Hunter Yohoko is lame. Its like Sailor Moon but with very low class. On the contrary, I love this picture. Its epic. Its amazing. And it really looks like its a reboot to the series.. Also is that sword real or made of plastic? If its plastic, it looks real!</b>
