Top 46 Art of Deviantart (2016)

I think I may do this series bi yearly, since its been two years since I did this. Anyway you may be wondering why 46 instead of the standard top 11? That is becuase this was to make up for the no-year-three-anniversery and at the time there was 46 episodes. This countdown was hard. To do a top 11 is easy when it comes to ordering, but 46? It was a nightmare.Though all 46 pieces are amazing works of art, wether it be a doll or a painting done via photoshop. I tried to vary the fandoms and characters that way I don't have only Naruto and Hannibal dominating the countdown. I have everything from Powerpuff Girls to Saw, from Helloween to Magical Girl Trinkets.

Sansador is one of my OTPs. I don't care about the age difference. Look up any renaissance literature, its canon. It was normal for its time. This picture takes my OTP and makes me fangasm. There was so many other pics I chose, but this made me squee the most.

I had the hardest time deciding which Tiigroid piece I should add to my Top 46, since I like how she makes real people and turns them into anime characters that isn't in the form of a doll maker. I chose this one for two reasons 1) the texture and colors, this one popped over all of her entries and 2) I'm a tarot user myself. The cards are also very well detailed and in a nice perspective. If only I had the money to pay her to draw me. v.v;

I love Sparks's cakes. I've seen cake decorating shows such as Cupcake Wars and Ace of Cakes and I know the process is difficult. I chose this cake in particular because it's so cute. I don't know why, I find igloos adorable. The penguins look adorable too and she has amazing craftsmanship

I've seen gingerbread people and houses, but never a boat! It's so cute and I'm curious to know how the creator made this! I'm also sure it tasted amazing. (now I'm hungry) I love the railing that is made of pretzels, it makes it look so surreal!

When Left Shark was trending, I was obsessed with this character. I wanted some left shark merch and was thrilled to see there were so many pieces of the Left Shark on deviantart the day after the super bowl that year. I like how this artist took their time to make a meme a plush. It's so fucking adorable and I want to hug it!

Ricemo's RWBY

If you were to ask me what my favorite anime is, even though I haven't watched a legit anime since 2013, it would definitely be RWBY. I like the cross between fantasy like world with some sort of magical girl (and boy!) vibe to it. It's kind of like if Nanoha crossover with Naruto but in medieval times. This picture shows everything I love about RWBY. The artist has portrayed each of the characters in their own nature. Plus I love how this looks like a real manga! I would buy it if this was legit. Though apparently there is already a RWBY manga....

FiguFigu's Contract is a Taste of Honey

I like how the artist replicated the Madoka style while still keeping it original at the same time. I like the texture they did under the skirt, it really drags me in. The other textures are equally as amazing. The picture, while simple is very surreal.

Lola, while made for sex appeal, will always be my home gurl. I remember her from Baby Looney Toons and she was my favorite along with Tweety. I haven't seen much fanart of Lola and I love this pic. The technique is smooth and she looks so cool as a human. Saki had a massive amount of entries when it came to the entries alone and I wanted to choose a picture that spoke to me, and I chose this one.

Ravenari's Axolotl Totem

If don't know already, I'm a very spiritual person. I'm into tarot, voodoo, psychics, and yes, even spirit animals. While I may not consider myself an axolotl (they resemble good health, regeneration and resilience), I chose the axolotl totem from Raven's collection because the progression of color. The gray turns to white, the white turns to pink, then to black. The palette is awesome. And let's be honest, axolotls are adorable.

House is one of the fandoms I got into this year. It was January and I had just gotten oral surgery and I was too stoned to actually do anything. So I turned on the TV, saw that this show was on and gave it a watch. (It was that episode with the blind man and his dog during the recruiting arc) With that said, I had a hard time finding original House MD pics that I considered amazing. I mean as cool as realism is, I don't find it very original. Other pieces of this fandom's fanart where ms paint drawings or going overboard with Hilson. I like the tone in this pic. House, while being a comedy, can also be very melodramatic at times. I like the color scheme that the artist has chosen and like the anime portrayal of the cast. Very unique!

Bluediscord has an interesting jewelry line. Each of the designs have some sort of magical charm to it. They are all amazing, though I chose this one because it stood out amongst the others. Most of the designs are somewhat oval shaped, this one takes the shape of a scythe. Love the colors and the technique.

Hannibal, the movie franchise, not to be confused with the TV show or character, is one of my fandoms at the moment. If you haven't seen my review of Rising & Red Dragon yet, go and do so! Also stay tuned for the Silence of the Lambs & Hannibal (movie) episode coming out. While looking for Hannibal fan art, I get amazing things. Most of them being hilarious, others more glamourous. This pic has a pop art feel to it. I'm not sure if the intent was to be somewhat humorous, because this picture makes me chuckle a bit. If you don't know what I'm referring to (or that pic refers to) Silence's climax is Hannibal's famous escape scene. The expression on this picture isn't really scary or haunting. It's more like a Steve Urkel Did I do that. (Read that in a Hopkins voice, I dare you.) Anyway, sorry artist, if that wasn't the intent. The technique is different from what I've seen of the fandom's fanart. That's why I chose it and not just that corny thought in my head.

Wobbuffet is amazing. He is adorable, and everyone on the show hates him. I love the technique used in this piece. Its very unique and I love the theme added as well. I would never expect a Wobbuffet to go to war.

I never usually appreciate landscape art until recently. I guess mostly because of technique I started appreciating it more. I like the colors in this picture and how it feels it's in motion. The technique is stellar and everytime I look at this picture, I sink right in.

I stopped paying attention to pop culture a few years ago since I haven't watched TV outside of the Today Show and the Food Network. I'm not sure if this is a reference to a Taylor Swift music video or something completely different. Either way I love it. There is a cross between realism and anime which makes a very interesting blend.

I never expected myself to say Hannibal Lector and Monster High in the same sentence. Then again, there is this odd motif going around deviantart when it comes to Hannibal. There is a lot of My Little Pony involved. Why? I don't get it. This doll, on the other hand, us amazing. It combines two things I never expected and love the design. Plus the doll does have that Hannibal feel with that creepy face of hers.

Needlepoint has never been impressive to me when it comes to art. The design is already made and all you have to do is sew it. I have a feeling this one, as well as the artists' other needlearts are entirely original. All of them look amazing and I chose this Gizmo one becuase the contrast in textures and its so adorable. <3

For those who couldn't already guess from my page, Steele is my celeb husband. I had to have at least one Peter Steele piece or metal music piece in general. I like the originality in this picture. Most celebrities that are for a niche group don't usually have that much fanart and the few fanart consists of two categories; realism or MS paint. This piece is neither of those and he just looks so sexy.

Bakuhatsu-Dei has a lot of male pin ups of my favorite men in Naruto; Itachi, Pein and of course, Deidara. I don't remember his personality that well since I abandoned the series during that one zombie arc.  But I remember him being egotistical and liked making art that explodes. [Its always the good looking ones who are so fucked up] I think this picture represents his ego well. He looks hot. This is an amazing piece of art, and I would bang him. (see what I did there?)

I'm gonna be totally honest, I didn't care for the early animation for RWBY. If you've seen my review of it, I compare it to the early Tomb Raider games. When it came to RWBY pieces, I was ultra strict on how I wanted certain pieces to look and I chose this one. It replicates the RWBY style to a much cleaner anime-esque style and doesn't look like early Tomb Raider. I also love the perspective and the textures in this picture. Good Job!

Tomb Raider is an action packed video game series for both men and women to enjoy. I got into the series once the 9th game was released on Steam and fell in love with the story and gameplay. (except that one mini challenge where you have to rescue Alex) I've seen a lot of Lara Croft crafts, but what made this picture on to this list is the replication of the landscape as well as the character. It looks like the same forest and temple in the ninth game. Because of this, its why its on this list.

I always wanted to see a crossover between Game of Thrones and Disney and this is what I envisioned it to be like. I love the characters expressions, it's canon but also comical at the same time. Almost feels like a real Disney film.

This looks so cool. I like the realistic feel despite Cyndie being a doll. i wonder if the hair and outfit was also custom made because they look equally as fantastic.

Helloween is probably the most underrated bands in America. I’m lucky if I find one person who enjoys them as much as I do. I wanted to include at least one Helloween piece and the reason why I chose this picture is the contrasting. The colors are bright and happy...but there is a devil and a pentagram. If you never heard of this group, that's basically this band. This artist is also the official artist for Hellowen, and he does an amazing job.

Graceful underwater cosplay shots will most likely earn a space in my countdown. Its not very easy to do both for photographer and model(s). This picture is so elgant and graceful that I had to add it here. I love the way that the dress flows with the water.

I get a very spiritual aura out of this picture. I like the blend of colors within this picture. The realism makes the picture almost haunting. (and yet sexy at the same time. I'm an Orochimaru fangirl) This picture represents the character well and thats why its here.

Similar to Muye's piece, the manga style makes Peter look sexier. I just wanna run my hands through his hair. He looks like a legit bishonen from an actual manga. Also is that water colors? I never mastered those so I envy anyone who can master crisp shapes with that medium. <3

The mix between anime and realism blend quite nicely. I'm also digging the special effects in this picture. It looks almost authentic to a magical girl show. I had a hard time choosing only ONE Chibiusa-Moon entry since she has amazing Winx Club art work, but I chose it because of the reasons I already mentioned.

I like the eerie yet surreal feeling from this picture. It shows the dark side of the game and how bleak it could be. The squiggle coming out of Max's arm always draws me in and I always find something new while looking at this piece.

Scarlett's planetary collection is amazing and I felt a lot of spiritual energy while looking at them. I had the hardest time what planet would represent this countdown and I went with Uranus because how much color there is. This gave the most spiritual energy. Whenever I have this sort of connection, the sensation I feel is my body (mostly chest) gets warm. Not uncomfortable, but you know the phrase "heart warming?" That is the literal feeling I get. I love the colors, textures and the impact of this picture.

I never read the bible. I read a chunk of the torah when I was thirteen (except I had no idea what was going on). I read a snippet of Book of Law for my english final last semester (and I wish I didn't know what was going on). So I'm not sure what the story is behind this picture. Whatever it is, the picture has an erotic tone, despite its bleak title. To be honest, from a distance, I thought the woman was a man and I was like, "Damn, he looks good." And I thought the man was a woman (When you have Sox2, your perception is fucked up) . Then I only found out now since I'm writing about this piece. Anyway, immaturity aside, this is a great picture. While being mostly erotic, the background definitely shows the "grief."  I'm curious what medium the artist used? Acrylic paint?

ElvenstarArt's Lightning

Another artist I had the hardest time deciding who makes it into the final forty six. Elvenstar has amazing fantasy and spiritual drawings that also have some sort of pin up motif going on as well. While I was trying to refrain from choosing any pieces with a lot of blank spaces, what caught my eye is how natural the lightning looks. It flows well with the rest of the drawing and doesn't look like a geometric zig zag, which is what I suffer from quite often. I also like the simple palette, doesn't have too much color other than white and purples, but I think that's what makes this piece so much more interesting.

When it comes to magical girl OCs, especially Sailor Moon ones, I have strict criteria on what I am looking for in character designs. I don't want the average sailor senshi outfit with some pretty face attached to it like in the original series. I want something entirely created by the artist themselves. This fits my criteria and Alan has a lot of amazing work when it comes to his Sailor OC collection. I chose this pic in particular for not only the originality but the pallette and perspective as well. The pic almost looks like the heroine in the pic has been hurt by someone she loves and could potentially be senshi but a villain, kind of like Galaxia. I also love the special effects added and thats why its on my top 46.

Now here is something I never expected, Powerpuff Girls and Resident Evil. This picture looks like an epic, dramatic picture. It looks like the Powerpuff Girls are going to war against…..whoever the antagonists in Resident Evil are. (I don’t follow that series) I like how there is something going on at every corner as well as the perspective over Bubble’s shoulder. Amazing work.

Saw is one of those franchises I won't touch. Don't like gore. Especially if the gore is glorified. I'll stick to Hannibal thank you very much. With that said, this is adorable. It takes my terror away and it looks like Jigsaw wants a hug....don't do it. I chose this one becuase of that element. I've seen cute Game of Thrones and Sailor Moon plush, but when you make an adorable plush of a character that scares the shit outta me, your mostly gonna end up on this amazing list.

Yes, Yes I am. Oh god, I think I just came. Wait, sorry, I'm supposed to be praising artwork, not masterbating. (Sorry kids if you're reading this) Anyway, like Lots Grief, this has a very erotic tone to it. The picture makes it seem that the perspective is in motion and I like the turn out since I can't figure out how artists do it. I also like the anime realism going on. Though I'm still oggling.

The realism in Spongebob can be kinda unnerving. Especially the ones that involve some sort of injury. Can’t remember a specific example, but this isn’t unnerving. It's adorable. Patrick looks so happy and cute and I want to hug him! (Though it may take a while to get off me, suction cups and all)

I’ve seen all sorts of different Pokemon crossovers; Game of Thrones, Disney Princesses, Sailor Moon and recently Hannibal. Yes. That is a thing. Star Wars and Pokemon would be an interesting mix. We are aware that some pokemon live in space, so it would be cool if there was a pokeball for the specific area. I like how the artist took it to the next level. They didn’t just draw an R2D2 pokeball, they MADE it. The materials also look really expensive and almost like legit metal. I applaud them for this creative idea.

I always wondered what a Powerpuff Girls live action film would look like and what happens when they grow up. I kinda imagine it as Sailor Moon meets Justice League scenario where the PPG are ordinary women with functional jobs and somewhat functional love lives but the city of Townsville is always in danger and needs their help. This image sums up my vision. The technique is amazing as well as the perspective. When it comes to fandoms like the Powerpuff Girls, I am looking for originality since the cartoon is very simply made, so drawing them in their regular striped dresses is one thing. But to create one's own style in fashion as well as drawing technique is a different thing as a whole and that's why this pic is on my list.

At first I thought this piece of work was stolen off google images since I owned the album, Army of Mushroom, and I wasn’t aware the artist of the piece actually has a deviantart page (this happens to me all the time.) It's one of my favorite albums at the moment. And it has amazing cover. It's so surreal and it sucks me in. The mushrooms’ faces are eerie and the colors flow wonderfully.

Normally, I’m not a macabre art type of person, however I found this mini series of Im-Sorry-Thx-Bye’s oddly amusing. Most of them are foods with random human body parts in it. I like the pun in this one, which is why it's on this list. As much as I love that mini series, there can only be one representative.

Ursa makes some unique pieces in general. I love the animal/food combinations she comes up with. While silly, they have some sort of spirituality element to it. Last year her Lemon with horns made it on the list. This year is beets going south. (I wonder where they are going) The idea is a one of the kind, her technique is awesome, and this picture is just so cute.

kawacy’s Drag Me Down

While I may not be a fan of creepypasta art (which is mostly Jeff or Slenderman), I love this piece. It's not shocking. But more suspenseful. To be a creepy, you don’t need blood, guts and gore. You need suspense. The way the hands of darkness are dragging Link down is heart pounding. The technique is amazing and I like the colors used. I normally associate Zelda with bright colors, but it's nice to see a bit of darkness as well.

This is another good example of creepy piece. I would never think to create this piece. It's so bizarre and amazing. I want to know what was the inspiration behind this. This has to be the number one because the abstract, creepy and beautiful nature.
